848 N Sunrise Blvd
Camano, WA 98282
Time: 7:00 PM - but come earlier, some of us have to be there before the library closes at 6:00, some come visit and ask questions.
Now is the time when our Queens are laying the eggs that will be the winter bees that will survive until Spring. It is important to be sure that our hives are strong and healthy to raise strong winter bees.
1. Mite Treatments - Varroa mites feed on the fat bodies of the bees as they pupate, and these fat bodies are what the bees need to survive the long winter, so we need to get the mites under control to have healthy bees that will live all winter.
2. Preparing for Winter - Honey stores, Honey banks, fall feed (2:1), Winter feeding (solid sugar), Ventilation to reduce moisture, Insulation (to prevent condensation).
3. We will also take time to catch up with each other about how our bees are doing so far this year.
3. Please feel free to bring your list of questions for discussion and topics for future meetings.
Note that we will return to the Stanwood Library for our October 11, 2023 meeting.
