Stanwood Camano Beekeepers Association is a member organization of the Washington State Beekeepers Association. As a member, we have access to Washington State University’s Honeybee program research team for advice. This list of Queen providers used by WSU has been provided to us by Briana Price, the Honeybee Program Extension Coordinator at WSU. Note that these Queen producers are located in California or Oregon and that shipping mated Queens can damage the sperm cells stored in the queen’s spermatheca, so use this list with caution.
(Local Queens are always better, so try the above bee vendors first!)
Also, Steve Sheppard and Sue Cobey mentioned that these people don’t usually fulfill small hobbyist orders as often, so they recommend a group of beekeepers doing a bulk order to have a better chance of getting bees.
